II. MINISTRY UPDATE
1. Short-term ministry opportunity: We are in need of a one or more
people to complete a team which will be coming to Spain from August 4-11 to help
put on our field’s annual conference for missionaries. We need people to help
with children’s ministry and/or with worship. No knowledge of Spanish is
necessary. In addition to the airfare, in-country costs would be about $300 for
the week. If you might be interested, please contact us ASAP.
2. Praise that we continue to receive new visitors to our Sunday and
midweek services, all immigrants from various African and Latin American
countries. Please pray that our team would be able to encourage and meet
the spiritual needs of all who are currently attending. We have recently
started weekly discipleship meetings with two families and are praying
that God would lead others to want to participate as well.
3. Praise that Mark & Glory, a Nigerian couple from our church, were
finally able to finish all the necessary paperwork to bring their two sons, aged
9 and 5, to Spain. Please pray that nothing else would arise to stop the
process so that this family could finally be reunited in Spain by this summer
(they also have a baby daughter who was born here in Spain).
4. Praise that our ministry among a small group of believers in the town of
Medinaceli continues to grow. Joanne and our co-worker Deysi have begun a
monthly Bible study for several women from the Dominican Republic who live
there, and we are considering other ways of reaching out. Please pray for
wisdom about how best to continue this new ministry opportunity.
Medinaceli is located about 20 miles away and has about 800 inhabitants.
5. To celebrate “International Book Day” on April 23, we are
encouraging the congregation to participate in two contests, one to memorize
Bible verses and the other to learn the books of the Bible in order.
Please pray that these activities would increase the congregation’s knowledge of
the Bible and also encourage them to read and memorize Scripture on a more
regular basis.
6. Please pray that the community activities we offer through our NGO (English classes, Spanish classes for foreigners, kid’s running club, etc.), would not only be opportunities to serve the community but would also provide us with opportunities to share our faith
7. Praise that the process of purchasing and renovating a new property
to replace our very small rented property has moved along considerably.
Please pray as we continue to negotiate with the owners of properties, meet with
officials at City Hall, and present our proposals to our field leadership, who
must approve any purchase. A new property would greatly enhance our
ministry and community service opportunities. Please pray for
God’s leading and provision, and please also prayerfully consider whether you or
your church could help out with a donation to our Building Project Fund.
There are two ways to give to our Building Project Fund. If you would like a receipt for tax purposes, you should be mark your contribution for the “Sigüenza Building Project” and mail it to SEND International, P.O. Box 513, Farmington, MI 48332. If you don’t need a receipt, you also have the option of sending us the contribution directly; the advantage of this is that we receive the full amount of the gift (contributions sent via SEND have 5% taken off) and we can also usually get a better exchange rate.
As always, thank you for your faithful prayers and financial support of our ministry in Spain.
"But certainly God has heard; He has given heed to the voice of my prayer.
Blessed be God, Who has not turned away my prayer nor His lovingkindness from me."
[Psalm 66:19-20]
